About us
You will always find a warm welcome at the Dublin Scottish Country Dance Club. We are a social dance club suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. We have members ranging in age from teens to octogenarians, and everything in between! Some of us have been dancing for decades, while others are quite new. No previous knowledge of Scottish dancing is necessary and you do not need to bring a partner as we change partners for each dance.
We are the only Scottish country dancing club in the Republic of Ireland and many of our dancers are members of the Belfast Branch of the RSCDS, with whom we have a close relationship. Some of our dancers are also members of the International Branch of the RSCDS. We host an annual dance in the spring or early summer and a ceilidh in the summer or early autumn. See our News & Events page for more information. Our AGM for 2024 took place on October 17th. See below for the list of our current committee members.
Scottish country dancing has many health benefits from improving balance, agility, and bone density, to increasing cardiovascular fitness levels. But beyond the physical benefits, thanks to learning the patterns and formations that comprise the dances, Scottish country dancing is also great for improving cognitive function.
